While in college, I wrote regularly for numerous on-campus publications, including a social justice magazine, a disability blog, and was part of an intersectional feminist writing collective. I also tried (and failed) at starting a satire publication — with many lessons learned along the way! Perhaps my most consistent writing commitment was The Duke Chronicle — Duke’s student newspaper — where I wrote named articles biweekly, and spent a semester writing anonymous satirical articles weekly. My column was Duke’s first humor/social commentary column, and I wrote alternating weeks with another student and great collaborator, Lindsay Tomson; we also served as each others’ editors.
